Summer Recipe Ideas for Big Green Egg

We are in the dog days of summer, kids are going back to school, backyard gardens are flourishing, and we are brainstorming ideas of what to cook for dinner. Read below to get some ideas on yummy meals to prepare on your Big Green Egg!

Jalapeno Poppers

If you have a jalapeno plant growing in your backyard, this is the perfect idea! Gather a handful of jalapenos, slide halfway down the middle, core out all the seeds and wash thoroughly.

Next, you will create your stuffing. One way to do this is mix together room temperature cream cheese, shredded cheese, and your favorite bbq rub. Mix these together then spoon the mixture into the center of your sliced jalapenos. Finally, wrap each jalapeno half with bacon, and they are ready to go on the smoker! Smoke for about 30 minutes or until bacon is ready!

Corn on the Cob

If you have come across a farmers market recently, you know that corn on the cob season is here! Corn is amazing prepared on the grill, and it is super simple! Either leave it in the husk, or peel and wrap in tin foil. Grill for 7-10 minutes on high heat, then top with salt and butter - the perfect Indiana summer side dish!

Kabobs

Do you have zucchini or peppers in your backyard garden and you do not know how to use them all? Well, pair them with sliced steak or cubed chicken on a skewer with your favorite bbq rub, and you have a meal that is sure to be enjoyed. You can also add pineapple chunks, red onion, or any other vegetables to make this a perfect combination. Once they are almost done, top with bbq sauce and enjoy!
