Smoked Turkey: Items Needed

The time of year is approaching where we gather with family to spend quality time together, to share memories both near and far, and most importantly - eat a delicious meal together!

When it comes to cooking those amazing meals, have you ever thought of smoking your turkey? Smoking a turkey allows for a different flavor profile that is sure to please any palate.

At Angie’s we have everything you need to create the perfect meal for your family this year, so let's get into it!

First, you will need a device to smoke the turkey on. We recommend a Big Green Egg. With a Big Green Egg you can grill, bake, roast, and smoke all different kinds of food. In this case, we will be roasting, so this grill will definitely do the trick. Depending on the size of your turkey, any size BGE can do the trick!

Big Green Egg offers many different accessories to make any type of cooking easy. For roasting a turkey, you will need a few different accessories. Under the grill rack you will add a conveggtor. This device allows for indirect heat to cook the food, making it similar to an indoor oven. The smoke from the charcoal and wood chips will come up the sides of the grill and around the turkey, this will allow for a nice even cook - and all the flavors to be soaked into the bird.

Next, on top of the grill rack you will need a drip pan and a roasting rack. The drip pan will catch any liquids that come out of the turkey to ensure they do not catch fire. The roasting rack will hold the turkey to ensure even and proper cooking.

Additionally, we carry all the spices and seasonings to make a flavorful bird this holiday season. Some of our most popular selling items for a turkey are Meat Church Bird Baptism and Big Green Egg Citrus & Herb Rub.

Stop in today to check out everything you will need to make a delicious bird for your family this year. We are happy to help get this set up for you and answer any additional questions you may have.
